‘Who is a Young Carer?’
Are you a child or Young Person who cares for a brother, sister, parent, or family member?
Young Carers are children or young people under the age of 18 who spend time helping to care for close friends or family, who due to illness or disability, may find it difficult without their support.
In Central Bedfordshire we define Young Carers as ‘children or young people aged 5-17 who look after or are affected by someone in their family who has a physical illness, disability, mental health illness or substance misuse problem; taking on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities which would normally be expected of an adult.’
If you have answered yes, or this sounds like something you do, visit our Young Carers website, where you can find out how we can support you in your caring role. We have some fantastic events and support groups you may like to know about.
