Oral Health Improvement

The Oral Health Improvement team encourages and supports people in the local community to develop tooth friendly practices. This is by delivering training sessions, supporting national campaigns and running the My Smile award programme.
The team provide this free support across the Bedford area and Central Bedfordshire, aiming to make mouths healthy!
Oral health training is available to a wide range of people and groups who wish to support and enable good oral health. Some examples of who we train…
- Health visitors, school nurses, nursery nurses and 0-19 teams
- Teachers and school staff teams
- Looked After Children teams
- Early Years Practitioners

Public Health have worked with SNAP parent carer forum to develop a compilation of ways to cope with challenges that children and young people have around toothbrushing. It includes ideas from parents and carers who have coped with challenges from their own children, as well as links to websites and videos to provide further help.
