Foundation For People With Learning Difficulties
We believe that people with learning disabilities should have the same rights and the same choices as everyone else in society.
Foundation for People with Learning Difficulties raise awareness of learning disability issues amongst the wider public, in order to breakdown stigma and discrimination. They aim to break down the economic and social barriers and prejudices that people with learning disabilities face throughout their lives, as well as providing information, resources and services that can help them lead fuller, more independent lives. Central to their work is the involvement of people with learning disabilities, their families and carers themselves. Their insight, advice and experiences is crucial to the research they undertake to develop their policy, public information and service improvement work.
FPLD has a breadth and depth of experience and knowledge helping to ensure people with learning disabilities have the same opportunities as other people through carrying out research, policy, development and consultancy work.
The team is supported by a broad range of consultants: experts by experience, families, and wider consultants who are project based. FPLD is part of London South Bank University and has access to their broader team including research and policy, communications and fundraising.
