School Transport arrangements

Letter from Home to School Transport Team 

Dear parent/carer,

We are writing to you to provide an update on the transport arrangement for your child from September 2022. We are sorry that this process is taking longer than we first said, but please rest assured we will have everything in place before the start of the autumn term.

The Council has commissioned a new software package to better plan and organise home to school transport routes. The implementation of the new software has taken longer than originally planned which means those that would normally have been advised of any changes in the routes will be informed no later than Friday, 26th August.

The Home to School Transport Team will only notify you if there is a change in your route. If you do not hear from us, this means your transport route and operator is the same as last term. Every effort will be made to contact those that will have a change to their route, as early as possible. Please note that not everyone will be contacted at the same time. Do not be concerned if other parents you know have been contacted and you have not yet. You can check the status of your application on Central Bedfordshire Council’s self-service portal.

If your child is starting or moving school, the team will also be in contact with you to confirm the route, as well as letting you know who the operator is.

The routes will remain the same for existing students wherever possible.

All applications received before the deadline will have school transport in place for the start of term.
